The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System:

Qualifications
  • Valid Massachusetts Teaching License in ESL and the subject area of interest.
  • Bachelor's Degree in teaching English as a Second Language or a related field.
  • Experience teaching English Language Learners as per the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education standards.
  • Proven success in developing English language proficiency among secondary school ELL students.
  • Experience in ESL/ELL curriculum development.
Job Goal

To deliver high-quality, rigorous instruction to accelerate English language learning, introduce content vocabulary, and prepare students for English proficiency.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Educate linguistically minority students.
  • Teach ESL using the curriculum adopted by the School Committee and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Differentiates instruction to meet individual student needs.
  • Knowledge of WIDA standards and ACCESS assessments.
  • Evaluate students' progress in listening, speaking, reading, and writing English.
  • Communicate with parents regarding student progress.
  • Maintain standards of student behavior for an effective classroom environment.
  • Participate in professional development aligned with district goals and ELL needs.
  • Other responsibilities as per the collective bargaining agreement.
Salary and Terms

According to the Fall River Educators' Association contract. Employment contingent on performance, program needs, and funding.
