Description

ESL Teacher

The Community Charter School of Paterson is seeking an ESL teacher to join our Middle School.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities & Outcomes

1. Teaches CCSP curriculum using textbooks and resources adopted by the Board of Trustees.
2. Instructs students to master the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
3. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each student's needs, with support from school leadership.
4. Uses a variety of instructional strategies such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc.
5. Translates lesson plans into engaging learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
6. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior aligned with CCSP norms to create a positive learning environment.
7. Identifies student needs and collaborates with staff and parents to address academic and non-academic challenges.
8. Participates in Professional Learning Communities with faculty, coaches, and leadership.
9. Creates an effective learning environment through displays, bulletin boards, and centers aligned with CCSP norms.
10. Evaluates students' academic and social/emotional growth, maintains records, utilizes assessment data, and prepares reports.
11. Communicates with parents via conferences, social media, phone calls, and other methods to discuss progress.
12. Maintains professional competence through professional development and independent learning.
13. Completes and submits required reports.
14. Attends meetings as needed and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey Teaching Certificate (Standard, Provisional, CEAS, or CE, P-3 or K-6) with Special Education Endorsement (TSOD) required.
• Bachelor's degree from a reputable university.
• GPA must meet NJ DOE certification requirements.
• Proven mastery of content and ability to promote student growth.
• Evidence of NJ Department of Education certification or out-of-state certification.
