Qualifications

• Assess students' academic and social needs based on test results, grades, staff and parent/guardian recommendations, acculturation, and history.
• Identifies LEP students for ESL program services based on testing and recommendations.
• Confer about placement of LEP students.
• Administers screening instruments to determine oral, reading, writing, and comprehension levels.
• Conferences with supervisor, staff, and parent/guardians regarding LEP students.
• Teaches English at each student's pace, considering ability, achievement, history, and motivation.
• Assists mainstream teachers in adapting plans, assignments and assessments.
• Confers with counselor regarding course selection to ensure proper accreditation to graduate.
• Collects, maintains, and submits required data for reports to coordinators and supervisors.

This position starts the beginning of the 26-27 school year.

What You'll Do

• Administers appropriate screening instrument to students to determine oral, reading, writing, and comprehensive levels of students.
  
• Conferences with supervisor, principal, staff, and parent/guardians regarding and LEP students.
  
• Teaches the skills necessary for the acquisition of English at each individual student's pace, taking into consideration ability, achievement, history, and motivational factors.
  
• Assists mainstream classroom teachers in adapting plans, assignments and assessments.
  
• Confere with counselor regarding course selection for identified students to ensure proper accreditation to graduate.
  
• Collects, maintains, and submits required data for required reports to coordinator, principal, and supervisor when requested.
  
• Attends conferences and meetings regarding LEP students with appropriate district personnel supplying expertise, data, and information when necessary.
  
• Serves as a communication link among families, school, and staff.
