Job summary

Danbury Public Schools CT is seeking a part-time test examiner at the Central Registration Center to determine English Learner (EL) status for new K-12 entrants and to administer the initial English Proficiency Assessment. The role includes reviewing transcripts and locating prior testing records.

Responsibilities extend to community outreach, providing information sessions to groups about ESL services, registration, and orientation. Bilingual fluency is required.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of English as a Second Language (ESL) and Second Language Acquisition (SLA) best practices
• Familiarity with Connecticut's English Proficiency Assessment
• Bachelor's Degree or higher

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain an English Proficiency Assessment appointment calendar with registrars
• Administer the English Proficiency Assessment, score and enter assessment data and communicate results to students' assigned schools
• Adhere to the CSDE Home Language Survey Guidelines and steps to determine eligibility for language support services
• Conduct one-on-one meetings to inform parents/guardians of language assessment results and available services
• Maintain accurate student test records and preserve confidentiality
• Verify and comply with district, state, and federal registration laws
• Coordinate with ESL Center Director and ESL Department Heads regarding testing data
• Create and distribute reports regarding incoming enrollments
• Participate in and provide training on administration and scoring of the English Proficiency Assessment
• Community Outreach: liaise with parents and community groups, assist with orientation and information sessions
• Translate as needed
