Help adult learners transform their futures as an ESL Instructor with Aurora Mental Health & Recovery's Adult Education Program. In this rewarding role, you will empower immigrants, refugees, and non-native English speakers to build English language skills, achieve greater independence, and reach personal, educational, and career goals. You'll provide engaging in-person instruction at multiple Aurora Public Schools (APS) sites, support student enrollment and assessment activities, connect learners to valuable wraparound services, and help create a welcoming, inclusive learning environment for students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.

The ideal candidate is passionate about serving immigrant and refugee communities, has at least two years of adult education teaching experience, thrives in multicultural and multi-level classroom settings, and is comfortable utilizing technology to enhance learning. Schedule

• Part‑time (20 hours per week): Instructors teach in person at two APS sites for two days per week. The third day is a hybrid workday focused on lesson planning, student support, data entry, and other administrative responsibilities.
• Full‑time: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing in-person instruction at APS sites. Fridays are hybrid, working 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and dedicated to lesson planning, administrative tasks, and program support activities.

Salary for this role. The starting wage is based on experience and company equity; and prorated based full‑time equivalency (FTE) Paid bi-weekly. $51,449.00 ($24.74 per hour) - $77,157 per annum Bilingual Language Differential Pay. Employees who successfully pass a language assessment are eligible to receive bilingual differential pay. This differential is provided as a fixed amount of $3,000 per calendar year, paid on a bi‑weekly basis across 26 pay periods, and prorated based on hire date and full‑time equivalency (FTE). Eligibility and payment are subject to the language requirements of the position and the employee’s demonstrated proficiency in the language.

Term‑Limited Position: This is a full‑time, benefits‑eligible, term‑limited position expected to end on or around June 30, 2027, with the possibility of extension if grant funding continues. This position is funded through the Aurora Public Schools and is contingent upon continued funding. The position may be eliminated if funding is reduced or discontinued by the grantor.

Essential Functions

• Teach engaging and student‑centered group ESL classes, which include job skills/workforce curriculum and College and Career Readiness Standards.
• Integrate civics education into the curriculum.
• Incorporate the use of technology into classroom instruction, including administering a distance learning platform for hybrid learners.
• Use a variety of materials and teaching techniques.
• Teach traditional courses such as Math, Science, Language Arts.
• Monitor students' goals and progress.
• Address learners needs using a variety of resources and approaches.
• Provide support in registration, testing and retention of ESL learners.
• Perform record keeping responsibilities, including tracking and reporting attendance daily.
• Accumulate professional development hours and attend staff meetings, trainings, etc. as requested by the Adult Education Director.
• Schedule monthly tutoring classes with students & volunteers.
• Maintain certification to administer the standardized assessment used by the program.
• Effectively utilize volunteers in class.
• Work with and report to the Director to ensure the smooth functioning of the program.
• Participate in monthly Professional Learning Communities.
• Staff member will complete needed care coordination tasks for their assigned role.

QualificationsRequirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• Adult Basic Education Authorization (ABEA), or willingness to obtain within 3 years of hire.
• Two (2) years teaching experience with emphasis on adult education.
• Experience teaching multi‑level and multi‑cultural classes.
• Experience developing and delivering contextualized ESL instruction and/or integrated education and training.
• Required Vaccination and TB Test. As part of this commitment, all employees are required to receive an annual influenza (flu) shot and present a negative TB test result before their first day of work. Proof of both the flu shot and negative TB test must be provided on your first day of employment. Medical and religious exemptions can be requested if necessary.
