Job summary

Shamrock Foods Company in Arizona is seeking a Filler Operator to run and maintain filling lines for milk, cream and beverage products, following specified methods and formulas while upholding quality and food safety.

You will set up and monitor equipment, perform routine quality checks, adjust filler timing, troubleshoot basic issues, and ensure proper packaging materials. The role requires frequent standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and flexibility for evenings, nights, weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 3+ months experience in manufacturing, dairy or related field preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Ability to communicate effectively to complete duties.
  • Must be able to work in cold and wet environments for prolonged periods.
  • Must be flexible to evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor production line equipment.
  • Complete scheduled quality checks.
  • Monitor weights, seals, caps, and packaging quality.
  • Adjust filler timing and filling as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating issues.
  • Prepare equipment for next run and size changes as needed.
  • Maintain communication with other departments and report issues.
  • Follow SOPs and QA standards; collect samples as required.

Job description

The Filler Operator has a primary responsibility to run and maintain fillers and other related equipment. (S)he operates continuous flow equipment to process milk, cream, and other beverage products, following specified methods and formulas. (S)he is responsible for quality, food safety and product specifications.

Follow all required work safe practices. This would include compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.

  • Clean, set-up, operate and monitor equipment of the production line.
  • Complete scheduled quality checks.
  • Monitor weights, seals, caps, and general packaging of product.
  • Adjust filler timing and filling as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties.
  • Ensure that the proper packaging materials are used for each product being produced.
  • Perform filler and filler line changeovers
  • Complete cleaning checklist once line has completed run.
  • Prepare equipment for next run to include size changes as needed.
  • Maintain communication with other departments, management and associates and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production.
  • Analyze process data and equipment performance data to improve quality, throughput, and troubleshoot while assisting in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
  • Responsible for food safety, pre-requisite programs and food quality related to designated area.
  • Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately.
  • Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOP’s.
  • Follow Quality Assurance standards and collect required samples, as needed, for Quality Assurance testing.
  • Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with required information.
  • Follow all required work safe practices. This would include compliance of Good Manufacturing Practices, wearing required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 3+ months experience in manufacturing, dairy or another related field preferred
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to communicate when necessary to complete duties
  • Ability to work in a cold and wet environment for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to work in various temperature-controlled zones ranging from cold to hot
  • Demonstrated a mechanical aptitude and can work and maneuver in tight and awkward areas and positions
  • Ability to operate equipment at recommended speeds and communicate mechanical and operational defects as they arise.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work the demands of the department which may be subject to evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to frequently reach up to 31-77 inches.
Physical Demands:
  • Regularly stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, or crawl
  • Ability to reach and handle objects, tools, or controls
  • Occasionally sit and occasionally climb ladders or work on a platform
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
