  • Farmington Public Schools has an opening for an ESL teacher with Continuing Education.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Candidate should maintain a valid CT bilingual or TESOL certification.
    • Candidates without CT bilingual or TESOL certification must obtain Endorsement #088 (English to Non-English Speaking Adults - ESL).
    • Candidate should attend mandatory adult education meetings and staff development sessions.
    • Candidate will meet with program coordinator and facilitator to discuss classroom materials, and other issues.
    • Candidate should create and maintain a positive learning environment and standards of behavior.
    • Candidate should plan life skills and academic instruction based on needs assessments, appropriate appraisal instruments, and program guidelines that are based on the CCR Standards.
    • Candidate should develop teaching strategies that are appropriate for the adult learner.
    • Candidate should implement instruction that reflects structure and logical sequence.
    • Candidate should organize and request teaching materials appropriate for adult learners.
    • Candidate will help administer appropriate CCS etesting.

    SALARY: $31 per hour

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The adult education teacher is responsible for performing the related responsibilities necessary to help adult students develop the academic knowledge, life skill competencies, and attitudes that will contribute to their development as mature, productive, and responsible adults and facilitate their ability to participate in the educational development of their children.

    WORK SCHEDULE:
    Part-time: 4 hours per week (28 weeks per school year; September - May); Mondays & Wednesdays (6 – 8 p.m.)
