Job summary

Houston Community College is seeking an Adult Education and Literacy Instructor to deliver high quality instruction across ABE, ASE, and ESL tracks. You will support distance learning, academic advising, and workforce-ready skill development for adult learners in the Houston area.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and teaching experience with adult learners; Texas Teaching Certificate is preferred. You will work with a diverse student body and engage in ongoing professional development to

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required; Texas Teaching Certificate preferred.
One year of teaching experience required; experience with adult students preferred.
Knowledge of ABE/ASE/ESL content standards and coursework is essential.

Responsibilities

Teach ABE across a continuum from basic literacy to high school equivalency readiness.
Deliver ESL and ASE instruction to support English learners and postsecondary transitions.
Provide distance learning instruction and engage students remotely when needed.
Provide academic advising and assist with program transitions and workforce training.
Participate in professional development and program improvement activities.
Maintain accurate records and submit reports on time according to policy.
Collaborate with the Program Director and other faculty to meet standards and accreditation.
