Job summary

Continental ContiTech, a leading Continental group sector, seeks an EHS Coordinator in Winchester, Virginia. This part-time position focuses on developing, implementing, and continuously improving environmental, health, and safety programs across the site.

You will work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership to drive regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and strengthen the site’s safety culture. 0–2 years of related experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related field required, pursuing acceptable.
  • 0–2 years of environmental, safety, compliance, or related experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support site EHS programs including Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, PPE, and more.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections, risk assessments, and hazard evaluations.
  • Lead or assist investigations of injuries, near misses, and environmental events.
  • Maintain permits, records, and regulatory reports.
  • Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 activities and audits.

THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN WINCHESTER, VIRGINIA. There is no relocation or sponsorship available for this role.

This is currently a Part-Time role.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

As an EHS Coordinator, you will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs across the manufacturing site. Working closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams, you will help drive regulatory compliance, reduce risk, improve environmental performance, and strengthen the site's safety culture.

Primary Responsibilities

Safety and Health Programs

  • Coordinate and support site EHS programs including:
    • Lockout/Tagout
    • Hazard Communication
    • PPE
    • Hearing Conservation
    • Machine Guarding
    • Hot Work
    • Confined Space Entry
    • Contractor Safety
    • Ergonomics
    • Emergency Response
  • Conduct routine facility inspections, risk assessments, and hazard evaluations.
  • Perform behavior-based safety observations and employee safety interactions.
  • Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead or assist investigations involving injuries, near misses, property damage incidents, and environmental events.
  • Utilize root cause analysis methodologies to identify contributing factors.
  • Track corrective actions through completion and verify effectiveness.
  • Prepare incident reports and communicate findings to leadership.
  • Support compliance with EPA, state, local, and company environmental requirements.
  • Manage hazardous waste accumulation, storage, disposal, and documentation.
  • Coordinate waste reduction and sustainability initiatives.
  • Conduct opacity readings, environmental inspections, and stormwater compliance activities.
  • Maintain permits, environmental records, manifests, and regulatory reports.

Auditing and Compliance

  • Conduct EHS compliance audits and assessments.
  • Support regulatory inspections and customer audits.
  • Participate in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management system activities.
  • Maintain compliance documentation and records.
  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

Training and Employee Engagement

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver EHS training programs.
  • Facilitate new employee safety orientation.
  • Maintain site training matrices and compliance records.
  • Participate in safety committees and employee engagement activities.
  • Promote a positive and proactive safety culture throughout the facility.

Metrics and Continuous Improvement

  • Track and analyze EHS performance metrics.
  • Develop reports and presentations for site leadership.
  • Identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support annual EHS objectives and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional teams focused on risk reduction and performance improvement.

Emergency Response

  • Serve as an active member of the Emergency Response Team.
  • Participate in emergency drills and preparedness activities.
  • Assist in emergency planning and response coordination.

THE ENVIRONMENT

Safety is our highest priority. This position requires regular interaction within manufacturing, warehouse, laboratory, and outdoor work environments.

The employee must be able to:

  • Wear all required PPE.
  • Frequently walk production areas.
  • Work around moving equipment and machinery.
  • Climb stairs, ladders, and elevated work platforms.
  • Work occasional off-shift hours and weekends.
  • Respond to emergency situations when necessary.
  • Work in both indoor and outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.

THE ENVIRONMENT

  • Safety is our highest priority and safety procedures and guidelines must always be adhered to. Applicants must be able to work in a manufacturing industrial environment and be able to wear personal protective equipment such as safety boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.+

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree, or currently pursuing a degree in an Environmental, Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Technology, or related field.
  • 0-2 years of environmental, safety, compliance, or related experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to obtain required EHS certifications.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

ADDITIONAL WAYS TO STAND OUT

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing EHS experience.
  • Experience leading cross-functional improvement projects.
  • Experience with incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems.
  • Current certifications in:
    • RCRA
    • HAZWOPER
    • DOT
    • IATA
    • ISO Auditor
    • Emergency Response
  • Experience supporting regulatory inspections and compliance audits.
  • Ability to influence all levels of the organization without direct authority.
