Job summary

The candidate will manage student records, collaborate with general education staff, and ensure compliance with state and district policies while delivering instruction aligned to standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an educational field or the equivalent as defined by Florida Administrative Code (FAC) 6A-1.0503.
• Hold or is eligible to hold a valid Florida Educator Certificate in Exceptional Student Education or equivalent as defined by FAC 6A-4.01795.
• Endorsements in the following areas as appropriate (dependent on class composition): Autism Spectrum Disorder, Gifted, Orientation and Mobility, Pre‑K Disabilities, Severe or Profound Disabilities, Reading, Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Help students become proficient in challenging standards and meet all state and local requirements for achievement.
• Teach diligently and conscientiously, using prescribed materials and methods, including technology-based instruction.
• Keep records and prepare and submit reports required by law, the school board, and/or the principal/administrator.
• Maintain a valid Florida educator’s certificate as required by state law and state board of education regulations.
• Perform duties necessary for diligent and conscientious instruction of students.
• Follow district policy and use appropriate materials/methods.
• Deliver all keys, records and reports to the administrator at year end or transfer.
• Administer prescription medication as assigned and in accordance with law and policy.
• Report absences and enable substitute coverage.
• Conform to professional conduct standards and equity plans.
• Attend staff meetings and maintain IEP/BIP/Educational Plan fidelity.
• Develop IEP goals and report progress for IEP meetings.
