Job summary

Sarasota is seeking a dedicated Para Pro Assistant to support teachers by delivering academic and behavioral instruction and supervising students under direction of the classroom teacher. The role requires effective communication and the ability to work both independently and with a team.

Candidates should have a passing Para Pro Assessment score or an Associate degree or 60 hours, and must complete CPI training within probation.

Qualifications

• Passing score on Para Pro Assessment or an Associate degree or 60 hours from an accredited institution.
• Must complete verbal and physical CPI training within probation.
• May need to complete 40 hours of autism-related training to obtain ASD certification by probation end.

Responsibilities

• Independently supervise and implement instruction to students as assigned.
• Assist staff with behavioral management.
• Create a safe learning environment and workplace.
• Prepare accurate records, reports and other clerical duties.
• Assist with development of instructional materials.
• Assist with personal care and hygiene tasks as needed.
• Support school-wide supervisory tasks as assigned.
• Assist with assessing student progress.
• Communicate effectively with staff and parents.
• Use specialized equipment as required.
• Intervene in discipline situations when health or safety is at risk.
• Demonstrate initiative and maintain ethical standards.
• Follow attendance, punctuality and dress rules.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters.
• Foster positive relationships with staff and vendors.
• Participate in workshops and training as needed.
