Job summary

TrulyHired in Fort Myers, FL seeks a dedicated ESE School-Based Specialist to support instructional and behavioral needs within the ESE team. You will collaborate with teachers to implement PBIPs/FBAs, design behavior systems, and assist with data collection and Medicaid claims as applicable.

The role requires a Florida teaching certificate in ESE, at least three years in ESE or related teaching, and strong communication skills. A Master's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education; Master's degree preferred.
• Three (3) years of Highly Effective/Effective experience in teaching and/or working in ESE.
• Valid Florida teaching certificate in Exceptional Student Education (ESE).
• Proven experience managing business/department functions and staff preferred.
• Industry certification preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instructional and behavioral assistance/support to the teachers and assistants of the ESE team.
• Evaluate and report on functional behavior assessments for students currently receiving ESE services.
• Provide guidance to IEP teams in writing PBIPs and FBAs.
• Collaborate with teachers to design and implement individual behavior systems for students in ESE.
• Design and/or provide staff development to teachers on behavioral interventions strategies and techniques.
• Provide support with data collection/analysis and assist with behavioral observations for students in ESE; write follow-up reports.
• Perform Medicaid administrative claims reimbursable activities as directed per SDAC Guide.
• Assist general education teachers regarding modifications, accommodations, and instructional/behavioral techniques for students in ESE.
• Collaborate with teachers to create schedules for social skills instruction.
• Support faculty in short-term crisis management for students in danger.
• Collaborate with faculty to include students with disabilities and act as liaison and advocate.
• Attend monthly behavior specialist meetings.
• Maintain current certification in de-escalation and physical intervention techniques.
• Provide guidance/consultative support to general education teachers about modifications and accommodations for students not in ESE.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Education

Master's degree preferred

Florida teaching certificate in ESE

Three (3) years of ESE/teaching experience
