Job summary

The School District of Lee County in Fort Myers is seeking an ESE Teacher (Autism Spectrum Disorder) at Caloosa Elementary School. You will plan individualized programs and collaborate with staff to meet each student’s needs.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and a valid Florida teaching certificate. Preference is given to candidates with a Master's degree and experience in managing department functions and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid Florida teaching certificate covering appropriate area of responsibility.
• Master’s degree from an accredited institution (preferred).
• Experience managing business/department functions and staff (preferred).
• Relevant work experience or education may substitute for minimum qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Plan individually or cooperatively a program of study that meets diverse student needs and abilities.
• Assist in establishing curriculum objectives and develop plans for implementation and evaluation.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity.
• Guide learning to achieve curriculum goals and establish clear lesson objectives.
• Employ instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting objectives.
• Assess student progress regularly and provide reports as required.
• Diagnose learning strengths and weaknesses and seek specialist assistance as needed.
• Counsel with colleagues, students, and parents on a regular basis.
• Maintain accurate records and use technology in teaching and learning.
• Adhere to ethical standards and district policies; support school improvement initiatives.
