Job summary

The City of Peoria is seeking an experienced ERP Product Owner to lead the City’s Enterprise Resource Planning platform and guide a small, capable systems team. This hands-on, working manager role focuses on delivering value from Workday Financials, Payroll and HCM while driving continuous optimization.

You will manage the product roadmap, oversee system configuration, security, integrations, and upgrades, and translate business needs into effective solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, IS, Business Admin, Change Management, or related field.
• Minimum five years progressively responsible professional experience in system administration, configuration, or business system analysis with a minimum of two years’ experience in a supervisor or leadership role.
• Experience with Workday HCM, Payroll and Financials is preferred.
• Experience in municipal or government setting and ERP program governance
• Experience leading cross-functional teams where functional resources do not directly report to the position.
• Experience managing ERP vendors, consultants, contacts, or external support resources.
• Experience with ERP implementation, stabilization, optimization or major system transformation initiatives.
• Experience managing ERP programs and projects.

Responsibilities

• Oversee ERP platform roadmap and drive ongoing optimization, including configuration, security, integrations, reporting, upgrades, and future Workday modules.
• Lead a small team of analysts, providing system support and ensuring business needs are translated into effective solutions.
• Serve as liaison between technology and business operations to align ERP with City goals.
• Collaborate with ERP vendors/consultants and manage external resources to deliver on project milestones.
• Support governance of ERP initiatives and enable smooth operations for municipal departments.

This is a working manager role—ideal for someone who thrives on both doing the work and leading the way in driving the continued success, optimization and transformation of the City’s ERP environment. The City of Peoria recently implemented Workday Financials, Payroll and Human Capital Management, and is continuing to build and optimize the platform to meet the needs of a growing organization. This position will play a key role in ensuring Workday delivers meaningful, measurable value across Human Resources, Finance and the broader organization. The ERP Product Owner will oversee the platform’s product roadmap and drive ongoing optimization, including system configuration, security, integrations, reporting, upgrades, break/fix support and the implementation of future Workday modules. The position will serve as a key liaison between technology and business operations, translating organizational needs into effective system solutions and ensuring the ERP platform continues to support the City's strategic goals. The ERP team is housed within the City Manager’s Office and supports an organization of more than 1,300 full-time employees. The Manager will lead a small team of three analysts who provide system support and assistance to departments across the organization. The team is responsible for troubleshooting and resolving system issues, developing reports, supporting upgrades and enhancements, assisting with system functionality and configuration, and helping implement future modules and capabilities.This is an opportunity for an experienced ERP or enterprise systems professional to play a significant role in shaping the City’s technology environment while leading a team that directly supports critical business operations.This position will report to a Deputy City Manager and will be at the helm of a dedicated team, guiding ERP Analysts to success.
