Job summary

The City of Winston-Salem seeks an experienced inspector to enforce erosion and sediment control, floodplain, and watershed protection ordinances. You will review plans, inspect sites, and manage enforcement actions under supervision of the Erosion Control/Floodplain Program Manager.

Required are an associate's degree in a related field and 4 years of enforcement/inspection experience, with proficiency in ArcGIS, plan review software, and MS Office; strong communication and impartiality are

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in civil engineering, landscape architecture, environmental science or related field and 4 years of enforcement/inspection experience.
  • Knowledge of erosion and sedimentation control concepts and local ordinances.
  • Ability to enforce regulations with firmness, tact and impartiality.

Responsibilities

  • Review plans for compliance with erosion control, floodplain and watershed ordinances.
  • Perform on-site inspections of single-family and commercial projects for compliance.
  • Develop and track enforcement actions (violation notices, penalties, hearings).
  • Maintain GIS database for assigned projects.
  • Complete monthly program activity and metrics reports.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
