ERGO, a major European insurance group, operates in over 20 countries, focusing on core markets in Europe and Asia. Recently, with the acquisition of Next Insurance, ERGO is entering the North American insurance market for the first time.

The Opportunity

The ERGO NA Senior Portfolio Account Manager reports directly to the Head of ERGO NA Underwriting. This role is vital as the primary liaison between ERGO’s commercial accounts and the underwriting teams, fostering strong stakeholder relationships and ensuring business success and profitability.

Key qualities include being future-focused and proactive.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Serve as the main contact for ERGO NA within the CUO division.
  2. Manage accounts and associated risks.
  3. Conduct management dialogues to set and monitor targets, identify deviations, and define corrective actions.
  4. Oversee P&L by collaborating with claims, actuarial, and data teams.
  5. Coordinate with GSI, ERGO Global P&C, and other group functions.
  6. Support underwriting guidelines, training, audits, and due diligence.
  7. Implement CUO-Governance using global standards and methodologies.
  8. Participate in planning and monitoring activities.
  9. Prepare for and follow up on Board meetings with thorough documentation.
Qualifications include:
  • At least 7 years of experience in US P&C, focusing on small commercial lines.
  • Knowledge in Pricing, UW, Claims, and Reinsurance preferred.
  • Proven ability in strategic UW projects.
  • Intercultural skills and success in multinational environments.
  • Willingness to travel within the US and occasionally abroad.
  • Degree in mathematics, economics, or equivalent insurance training.
Additional Details

The company is open to candidates in NYC, Princeton, and Philadelphia. The salary range reflects market variations, with the higher end aligned with NYC. The anticipated base salary is $141,800 to $226,100, plus potential bonuses and benefits such as health insurance, wellness programs, 401k matching, and paid time off.
