BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our busy Emergency and Critical Care department. As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia, triage cases, perform digital radiography, monitor vitals, administer medications, and assist with IV catheters, feeding tubes and CPR.

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia with proper equipment.
• Triage emergency cases and monitor vitals (temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate).
• Perform digital radiography with correct patient positioning.
• Understand normal vital sign ranges and interpret readings.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs; alert Veterinarian as needed.
• Identify patients at risk and initiate CPR when required.
• Calculate medical dosages and administer medications appropriately.
• Phlebotomy and placing IV catheters in peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train fellow staff; address client concerns with empathy.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will:

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• H ave a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
