Job summary

MedVet in Manassas, VA is seeking an Emergency and Nursing Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced ER team. You will support veterinary staff, manage patient flow and assist with procedures in a high-energy, collaborative environment.

The role offers an initial hiring range of $26.00 to $32.00 per hour, based on experience and skills, with a commitment to high-quality patient care and client education.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience preferred.
• Proficient in drug calculations, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside lab testing.
