Job description

ER Veterinary Supervisor – Night Shift
READY TO LEVEL UP?

Are you an experienced veterinary professional who’s ready to go from doing the work to leading the team? Do you thrive when things get busy, love coaching others, and know how to keep a clinical team moving when the ER gets chaotic?

If you’re thinking “yep, that’s me,” EVCC wants you on the team as our ER Veterinary Supervisor – Night Shift.

Who We Are

Emergency Veterinary Care Centers was created by veterinarians, for veterinarians—and for the communities they serve. Founded by 36 local general practice veterinarians (many of whom are still actively involved today), EVCC was built to support the veterinary community by providing trusted emergency-only care when primary care veterinarians are closed.

Currently, EVCC Saginaw is open from Friday at 7PM through Monday at 830AM including all holidays that occur during this timeframe. Our #1 goal is to expand these hours to provide quality care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, ensuring your pet always has access to lifesaving treatment— weekend or not.

Our Saginaw location is proud to provide compassionate emergency care for pets and the people who love them. Every shift, our team comes together to deliver lifesaving medicine while supporting one another through the fast pace and unpredictability of emergency veterinary care.

But what truly defines EVCC isn't just what we do—it's how we do it.

WE
  • Lead with compassion
  • Respect and elevate our technicians
  • Support each other without ego
  • Communicate openly and professionally
  • Recognize that emergency medicine is demanding — and take care of our team because of it
THE ROLE

You’ll report to the Hospital Manager and help keep our clinical team running smoothly while making sure we’re delivering top-tier nursing care.

Your main focus will be supervising clinical workflow, supporting collaboration, and helping our Nurses, Technicians, and Assistants do their absolute best.

This is primarily a night-shift role with weekend coverage. Schedules may flex depending on what the hospital needs — because, as we all know, emergency medicine doesn’t exactly follow a 9–5 calendar.

WHO YOU ARE

You’re someone who:

  • Has 3+ years of clinical Nursing/Technician experience preferred
  • Has 2+ years of leadership and/or emergency experience — major plus
  • Brings positive, energetic, “we’ll figure it out” energy
  • Communicates clearly and confidently
  • Actually enjoys teaching, coaching, and helping people grow
  • Knows how to lead without being a micromanager
WHAT YOU’LL DO

Basically, you’ll help make sure the clinical team has the people, tools, support, and direction they need to succeed.

LEAD THE DAY-TO-DAY
  • Manage daily clinical team operations
  • Supervise Nurses, Technicians, and Assistants
  • Help build and adjust clinical team schedules
  • Partner with the Hospital Manager on nursing payroll budgets
  • Make the most of downtime and keep the team productive
  • Keep EVCC culture and values front and center
  • Interview and onboard new team members, with offboarding support as needed
  • Partner closely with hospital leadership
  • Participate in weekly leadership meetings
KEEP PATIENT CARE ON POINT
  • Address patient care concerns and interpersonal conflicts
  • Implement EVCC Nursing Guidelines, policies, and projects
  • Make sure the team has the supplies, equipment, and tools needed to provide excellent care
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director to set expectations and maintain nursing standards
  • Incorporate DVM feedback when guiding the clinical team
  • Help bridge communication gaps and keep everyone on the same page
HELP YOUR TEAM GROW

We’re big on developing our people, so you’ll:

  • Work with Shift Leads to identify process improvements
  • Create a learning-focused environment for Nurses, Technicians, and Assistants
  • Support the professional growth of clinical team members
  • Use in-house trainers and other development resources
  • Make sure credentialed veterinary Nurses/Technicians maintain their licenses
  • Participate in clinical team meetings and 1:1 check-ins
  • Drive development plans and performance improvement initiatives
  • Organize student internships and externships with the recruiting team
  • Support training opportunities for new ER Nurse/Technician candidates
THE PERKS

We take care of our people, too.

  • Industry-leading compensation
  • Superior tech-to-doctor ratios
  • Brand-new hospitals built from the ground up
  • Latest equipment and technology in a modern facility
  • Employee pet discounts
  • Referral rewards — bring your people with you
  • Health, vision, and dental insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Continuing education opportunities because your growth matters
  • Flexible schedules designed for actual work-life balance
  • Plenty of room to grow your career
WHY EVCC?

We genuinely care about whoever walks through our doors — whether it’s a critical patient, an anxious pet parent, or a teammate who needs support during a tough shift.

Emergency medicine is intense. It’s emotional. It’s unpredictable. But it’s also deeply meaningful.

You won’t be “just a supervisor” here. Your assessment skills, instincts, and voice matter. Our doctors value collaboration. Our leadership team listens. Growth is encouraged, not gatekept.
