Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position in Texas. Requires at least 1 year of ER experience and a TX or compact RN license.

Certifications in ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PALS are required, with extensive experience in cardiac monitoring and emergent care. The role includes a 12-hour night shift, 1:4 staff patient ratio, and Epic charting. The facility is STEMI and Stroke certified, and local candidates within 90 miles may be considered.

Qualifications

• TX or compact RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of ER nursing experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Skilled in management and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Proficient in obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central line care/management
• Skilled in starting and maintaining IVs
• Experience administering IV vasopressors and emergency medications
• Experience with IV insulin protocols
• Experience with procedural sedation administration and monitoring
• Skilled in BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
• Experience with chest tube insertion/management and assisting with intubation
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and triage protocols
• Experience managing neuro-trauma cases including CVA, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury
• Experience with shock/trauma cases including traumatic amputation and gunshot wounds
• Experience managing/applying splints and treating ortho trauma
• Experience treating pediatric conditions including asthma, burns, head injury, and seizures
• Experience identifying and reporting neglect or abuse
• Experience managing psychiatric emergencies including acute psychosis, drug overdose, and suicidal patients
• Experience managing violent behavior and psychiatric holds

Responsibilities

• General Emergency Department serving combined adult and pediatric populations
• STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
• 12-hour night shift schedule (3x12, 19:00-7:30)
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Epic charting system experience required
• Provide emergency care across adult and pediatric patient populations
• Manage a wide range of acute conditions including respiratory, neurological, orthopedic, and psychiatric emergencies
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
• Local candidates within 90 miles may be considered
