Job summary

Cook County Health in Chicago, IL seeks an Emergency Department support staff member to assist RNs and physicians during the night shift (11:00PM–7:00AM). You will provide age-appropriate patient care, manage hygiene and comfort tasks, and support documentation and specimen transport.

Required are a high school diploma or EMT-B, CPR and ACLS certifications, 5 years of direct ED or pre-hospital care, and the ability to read EKG strips.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent (Must provide proof at interview).
• Five (5) years of direct patient care experience in an Emergency Department or pre-hospital setting within last eight years required.
• Current CPR certification (proof at interview) required.
• Current ACLS certification required (proof at interview).
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips (testing may be administered).

Responsibilities

• Provides age-appropriate patient care under supervision of RNs and physicians.
• Maintains patient care areas and transports to designated areas.
• Performs computer order entries, labeling, and specimen transport.
• Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures and daily assignments.
• Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA.
