Job summary

Baptist Health is seeking an ER Tech for the Weekend Program at the Freestanding ED. The role is full-time, 11 am to 11 pm, 36 hours per week, with duties under RN supervision. You will perform designated care tasks, run time-sensitive EKGs, collect specimens, and document vitals in the chart.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma (GED) and BLS within 90 days. Preferred: nursing assistant training or phlebotomy experience. Weekend differential is available and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; BLS within 90 days of hire; mandatory nonviolent crisis prevention training.
• Nursing assistant training or related experience preferred; phlebotomy training/experience preferred.
• Weekend program requires ability to perform time-sensitive tasks and collect specimens in a fast-paced ED setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform time-sensitive EKG testing and promptly inform the primary care giver of results.
• Collect routine specimens (blood, throat/nasal swabs, urine) per policy and complete training as needed.
• Take and document vital signs and blood glucose as ordered.

ER Tech Weekend Program - Freestanding Emergency Department

Full-Time 11a - 11p 36 hours/week, Every Weekend

25% Weekend Differential

• The ER Tech performs designated/delegated tasks in the provision of care for patients under the direction and supervision of a nurse.
• Must perform time sensitive EKG testing on patients that have an order for this test and must inform primary care giver in a time sensitive manner of results.
• Training will include knowledge of proper lead placement as well as alternate studies such as reverse and right sided EKGs.
• Collects specimens according to policy. Will complete training to include collection of blood specimens, throat swabs, nasal swabs, stool specimens, and obtaining clean catch urine specimens.
• Performs routine vital signs and documents appropriately in the patient medical record.
• Responsible for performing blood glucose testing as ordered.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
• Mandatory nonviolent crisis prevention training to be completed prior to end of orientation period and maintained annually.

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent nursing assistant training with six months or more experience.
• Prior Phlebotomy training or experience preferred.
