Job summary

Crawford Memorial Hospital in Illinois seeks an ED Tech to assist nurses and physicians in the Emergency Department. You will support test procedures, perform clerical tasks, and help update and organize patient information on nursing units.

Under supervision, you will coordinate unit activities, assist with patient comfort, monitor vital signs, document in the EMR, and transport patients as needed. Certification as CNA or EMT-B is required.

Qualifications

• CNA or EMT-B certification is required.
• BLS certification is required.
• De-escalation training must be completed within 6 months of hire.
• 2+ years CNA/EMT-B experience preferred.
• 2+ years of office/clerical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promotes patient comfort, answers call system, keeps room clean and orderly.
• Prepares supplies and equipment for procedures; stocks carts and ensures ED equipment is in working order.
• Rooms patients safely and records vital signs; obtains EKGs, venipunctures, and culture indications when indicated.
• Under supervision of physician/RN, performs wound care including irrigation and dressings.
• Assists with medication reconciliation and coordinates with pharmacy as needed.
• Transports patients to diagnostics or rooms; assists with admissions and transfers.
• Documents data in EMR and prints admissions/transfers paperwork; updates patient charts.
• Acts as Unit Clerk when assigned; follows hand-off protocols and safety procedures.
• Sets up follow-up appointments during daytime hours as needed.
• Participates in performance improvement activities.
