Job summary

Brown University Health's Emergency Room is seeking an Emergency Room Technician to support patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role involves non-professional services aimed at patient comfort and safety, aligning with the hospital's values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.

Responsibilities include patient care coordination, wound care, phlebotomy, EKGs, vital signs, and assisting with procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience as an ER technician preferred (1+ year).
• Phlebotomy and/or EKG experience preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates patient care activities for ER patients, including flow, setup, documentation and discharge instructions.
• Removes sutures/staples after physician assessment.
• Applies slings, wraps, cervical collars and immobilizers.
• Assists with various splint applications and measurements for crutches.
• Performs wound care, ointment applications and sterile dressing changes.
• Performs EKGs and phlebotomy on patients.
• Monitors oxygen saturation and records vital signs in the ED chart.
• Initiates crutch walking teaching and reviews instructions with patients.
