Job summary

System Support in partnership with Miami Valley North Hospital is seeking an ER Tech/HUC to support the Emergency Department. The role blends clinical tasks under RN supervision with health unit coordination, data entry, and patient-family communication.

Responsibilities include vital signs, direct patient care activities, supply stocking, and clerical support, with orientation to Ohio Board of Nursing standards. CPR/BLS certification is required before orientation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Current HealthCare Provider or Professional rescuer BLS CPR certification required prior to orientation.
• Completion of STNA/CNA training or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training, or direct patient care experience within last five years.
• Currently enrolled in nursing school with at least one clinical rotation.
• EMT Basic certification.
• Special consideration: previous direct patient care experience may be excused from fundamental training upon skills validation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate communication, data entry and stocking/ordering of supplies on the unit.
• Provide clerical assistance to physicians and staff.
• Support the ER Tech and HUC duties under RN supervision.
• Assist patients, families and visitors while promoting a positive patient experience.

Position: ER Tech/ HUCDepartment: Emergency DepartmentShift: 7AM-7:30PM/ 36 hours per week/ 72 hours per pay periodFacility: Miami Valley North HospitalThe ER Tech/Health Unit Coordinator (ER Tech/HUC) role combines the essential roles of the ER Tech and HUC into one role that will function based upon operational needs.The ER Tech is a multi-skilled individual able to perform technical and clinical tasks/procedures under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and delegated in accordance with the Ohio Board of Nursing. Identities abnormal findings based on established standards and guidelines and reports those findings to the Registered Nurse.The HUC is pivotal in the overall function of the unit including coordinating communication, data entry and stocking/ordering of supplies. Provides clerical assistance to physicians and staff. Provides direction and guidance to patients, families and visitors while promoting a positive patient experience. Tasks are performed under the oversight of the RN in coordination with other team members.EducationMinimum Level of Education Required: High School completion / GEDLicensure/Certification/Registration *Current HealthCare Provider or Professional rescuer BLS CPR certifications required prior to completion of orientationSuccessful completion of one of the following:1.Completion of previous STNA or CNA training or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.2.Direct patient care experience within the last five years: Performing fundamental skills of vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) & direct patient care activities ie. Bathing, turning/positioning, toileting3.Currently enrolled in nursing school and completion of at least one clinical rotation.4.EMT BasicSpecial Consideration: If the candidate has previous direct patient care experience, they may be excused from fundamental training (BCOP) upon completion of successful skills validation.
