Job summary

Premier Health Partners in Dayton, OH seeks an ER Tech/Health Unit Coordinator for the Emergency Department. This role combines ER technician duties with HUC responsibilities to support patient care and unit operations under the RN.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED, current BLS CPR, and completion of STNA/CNA training, EMT Basic, or nursing school with clinical rotation. Shift: 11:00 AM–11:30 PM, 36 hours weekly.

Qualifications

Position: ER Tech/ HUC
Department: Emergency Department
Shift: 11AM-11:30PM/ 36 hours per week/ 72 hours per pay period
Facility: Miami Valley North Hospital
The ER Tech/Health Unit Coordinator (ER Tech/HUC) role combines the essential roles of the ER Tech and HUC into one role that will function based upon operational needs.
The ER Tech is a multi-skilled individual able to perform technical and clinical tasks/procedures under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and delegated in accordance with the Ohio Board of Nursing. Identities abnormal findings based on established standards and guidelines and reports those findings to the Registered Nurse.
The HUC is pivotal in the overall function of the unit including coordinating communication, data entry and stocking/ordering of supplies. Provides clerical assistance to physicians and staff. Provides direction and guidance to patients, families and visitors while promoting a positive patient experience. Tasks are performed under the oversight of the RN in coordination with other team members.
Education
Minimum Level of Education Required: High School completion / GED
Licensure/Certification/Registration *
Current HealthCare Provider or Professional rescuer BLS CPR certifications required prior to completion of orientation

Successful Completion Of One Of The Following

• Completion of previous STNA or CNA training or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.
• Direct patient care experience within the last five years: Performing fundamental skills of vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) & direct patient care activities ie. Bathing, turning/positioning, toileting
• Currently enrolled in nursing school and completion of at least one clinical rotation.
• EMT Basic

Special Consideration: If the candidate has previous direct patient care experience, they may be excused from fundamental training (BCOP) upon completion of successful skills validation. This is in lieu of the above requirements.
