Job summary

The Emergency Room Technician at Community Health Systems provides essential support in the Emergency Department, assisting with patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. This role helps maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked environment to support timely patient flow.

Responsibilities include direct patient care tasks such as vital signs, specimen collection, and basic procedures, transportation assistance, accurate EMR documentation, and adherence to infection

Qualifications

• Completion of relevant technical school nursing assistant/EMT/phlebotomy/MA courses required.
• Certification preferred in CNA, EMT, Phlebotomy, or Medical Assistant.
• 0–1 years of clinical experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the ER under licensed staff supervision.
• Assist with patient transport and ensure safety.
• Maintain a clean, organized environment; restock supplies and ensure equipment is operational.
• Communicate with patients, families and care team; report changes promptly.
• Document care activities in the EMR accurately.
• Respond to emergencies and assist the care team as needed.
• Adhere to PPE and safety protocols to protect patients and staff.
• Support unit operations with clerical tasks and administrative duties as needed.
• Collaborate with ancillary services to facilitate patient care and department operations.
