Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department at Great Bend Hospital. You will provide safe, evidence-based care in a high‑acuity, night shift environment, and coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.

Required education includes an Associate Degree in Nursing with licensure as a Kansas RN; ACLS and BLS certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree Nursing from an accredited college or university.
• Bachelor degree in Nursing is preferred.
• ACLS and BLS certifications within required timelines; Kansas RN licensure.

Responsibilities

• Collects and assesses initial and ongoing data about the patient's health status.
• Initiates and revises a plan of care with immediate and long-term outcomes.
• Implements safe interventions in accordance with policy.
• Evaluates patient response to interventions based on outcomes.
• Provides patient education by explaining procedures and medications.
• Documents and communicates all required components of patient care.
• Care for acutely and critically ill patients in a high- tech monitoring environment.
• Perform airway management and manage pain and medications as directed.
• Develops and implements patient care plans with the interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrates competency with IVs, wound care, catheterization and specimen collection.
