Job summary

MercyOne Dubuque, part of MercyOne Trinity Health, is seeking a registered nurse for the Emergency Department. This position is 0.6 FTE with two 12-hour day shifts per week, every 3rd weekend and holiday, in a fast-paced adult and pediatric ED.

You will provide safe, high-quality care, perform rapid assessments, plan and implement emergency interventions, and coordinate with physicians and the care team. A BSN is preferred and Iowa RN license required; BLS mandatory, ACLS if telemetry.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing is required.
• BSN preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license is required (IL license if working in IL).
• BLS certification is required.
• ACLS certification is required only if unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities.

POSITION PURPOSE

Provides and directs safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients presenting with urgent and emergent medical conditions. Utilizes evidence-based practice and critical thinking to assess, triage, plan, implement, and evaluate care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The Emergency Room (RN) manages a diverse patient population across all age groups and conditions, including trauma, cardiac, neurological, and behavioral health emergencies. Supervises and coordinates care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, Emergency Room Techs, and other ED team members. Facilitates communication with physicians, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members. Adheres to MercyOne’s performance expectations and upholds the Mission, Vision, and Values of MercyOne.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate degree in nursing required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license, (current Illinois (IL) license if working in IL) required.
• Possession of a current or compact state licensure as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities.
