Job summary

McAlester Regional Health Center in McAlester, OK seeks an experienced RN for the Day Shift in the Emergency Department. You will perform triage, rapid assessments, administer treatments, and collaborate with physicians to provide timely, compassionate care in a fast-paced setting.

  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.

About the Role:

The RN Dayshift Emergency Department (ED) nurse plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients experiencing urgent and emergent health conditions. This position requires the ability to rapidly assess patient needs, prioritize care, and implement appropriate nursing interventions in a fast-paced environment. The nurse will collaborate closely with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, the role involves educating patients and their families about health conditions and post-discharge care to promote recovery and prevent complications. Ultimately, the RN in this role contributes significantly to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the emergency department, improving patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • 1-2 years experience working in an emergency department or acute care setting is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) or equivalent specialty certification.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume emergency department.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.

  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions to support ongoing care.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with infection control and safety regulations.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with emergency nursing best practices and protocols.
