Position Overview

The ER Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, directing, and evaluating patient care in the Emergency Room.

Essential Job Functions

1. Provide age-specific and developmentally appropriate nursing care, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
2. Complete accurate and legible documentation of medical records.
3. Observe and record patient signs, symptoms, behaviors, and physiological status.
4. Propose revisions to interventions and outcomes.
5. Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
6. Follow physician’s orders in delivering nursing care.
7. Collect laboratory samples and perform tests according to policies and regulations.
8. Follow infection control, isolation, and aseptic techniques.
9. Perform admission, discharge, and transfer procedures.
10. Participate in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care.
11. Prepare equipment and supplies for diagnostic or treatment procedures.

Other Job Functions

1. Perform quality assessment activities and document outcomes.
2. Attend staff meetings and other mandated meetings.
3. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

1. Associate’s Degree required; BSN preferred.
2. Current state RN licensure without sanctions.
3. At least 2 years of full-time RN experience in ER or comparable setting.
4. Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications; ENPC may substitute for PALS; TNCC preferred.
5. Fluency in English, written and oral.
