Job summary

Johnston-Willis Hospital is actively seeking a Registered Nurse to coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across departments, aligned with state-specific standards. You will collaborate with providers and the care team to support an exceptional patient experience and clinical outcomes.

The RN will assess pain, document care, teach patients and families, and ensure timely follow-up. Licensure in VA or a compact state is required; ACLS/BCLS/PALS and CNIC certifications are

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current RN license for Virginia or compact multistate license.
• ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• PALS must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, with reassessment after interventions.
• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs.
• Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, status, treatment plan, medications and potential side effects; translate complex terminology.
• Educate on follow-up measures, healthy lifestyle choices, and self-management.
