Job summary

University of Iowa Health Care's Department of Emergency Medicine is hiring a 90% Patient Care Technician in the Emergency Department at the Medical Center North Liberty, IA. Under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses, the ED Patient Care Technician will perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care.

Duties include performing EKGs, preparing rooms, transporting patients, stocking rooms, basic CPR, patient hygiene, and charting.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and follow instructions.
• Direct patient-care experience.
• Work experience in a health care environment.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Customer service experience.
• Certified Nursing Assistant.
• At least six months of ER experience and/or EMT-B certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform EKGs throughout the ED and hospital.
• Set up rooms for patient admission.
• Transport patients by bed, cart or wheelchair.
• Turn, position, and ambulate patients.
• Enter daily patient record charting in computer.
