Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System seeks a dedicated Paramedic to support the Registered Nurse in delivering medical and surgical care to patients in the Emergency Center. This full-time night shift position requires on-call availability and a commitment to safety, compassion and efficiency.

Applicants must complete Paramedic training and hold BLS, ACLS, PALS, BTLS or PTLS within specified timelines, and EMT-P or Texas paramedic license; one year of paramedic experience and strong communication

Qualifications

Completion of a paramedic training program and required hospital and/or field training.
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS and PALS within six months of hire.
BTLS or PTLS certification within eighteen months of hire.
EMT-P certification by the Texas Department of State Health Services or Licensed Paramedic by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
One year minimum experience as a paramedic.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to perform duties requiring prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting.
Ability to perform 24/7 on-call duties as required by clinical operations.

Responsibilities

Delivers appropriate patient care at a competent level and according to the age/needs of the patient/population served.
Assists Registered Nurse in the treatment of the emergency patients and performs procedures identified on the Skills Inventory.
Assists in the communication and prioritization of patient care.
Obtains subjective and objective data.
Documents on Emergency Center records according to hospital standards; provides patient/family with discharge information and/or education.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences.
