Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Technician for overnight shifts in San Jose, CA. The role focuses on high‑acuity patient care, anesthesia management, and collaboration with the DVM and nursing staff to deliver timely, quality treatment in a fast-paced ER setting.

Applicants should be a State Registered Veterinary Technician or have strong emergency experience, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required; previous emergency experience desired.
• Strong drug calculation proficiency and math skills required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities essential.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
