Job summary

Emerus is seeking a Lead Registered Nurse/Nurse Manager in the San Antonio area to oversee emergency department patient care operations, coordinate staff, and lead quality and safety initiatives. This role requires strong clinical expertise and organizational leadership to ensure efficient, compliant care delivery.

Responsibilities include scheduling, onboarding, staff development, and collaboration with hospital administration.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; BSN preferred.
• 5+ years total nursing experience required.
• Current RN licensure without sanctions required.
• 2+ years ED/CCU/PCU experience in an acute care hospital required.
• 2+ years supervisory experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Knowledge of JCAHO or DNV standards required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
• Completion of FEMA 100, 200, 700, and 800 within 60 days of hire.
• Position requires fluency in English; written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Nursing, Lab, Radiology, Pharmacy, Respiratory, Front Office and Dietary.
• Participate in Administrator on Call rotation for leadership support.
• Develop and manage work schedules for RNs, LVNs, and PCAs.
• Provide shift coverage to maintain staffing and patient care continuity.
• Support senior leadership during facility inspections by licensing and accrediting agencies.
• Evaluate and address educational needs of the market.
• Assist with planning and implementation of new service lines.
• Assist with oversight of Inpatient Lead/Preceptor.
• Assist with marketing and external relationships to drive facility volume.
• Assist in the implementation of the quality management system.
• Assist with process improvement and corrective action plans.
• Responsible for interim coverage of vacant leadership positions.
• Ensure full staffing with continuous coverage.
• Assist with new clinical orientation, including preceptor management.
• Assist with education and follow-up with staff.
• Travel to all facility locations as required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
