Job summary

Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Service (MVSES) in Louisville, KY, is seeking an experienced ER Intake Technician. You will coordinate with clients, doctors, and the nursing team to support triage, intake, and efficient patient flow while delivering compassionate communication.

Two years of clinical veterinary experience are required; LVN/LVT credentials preferred. The role offers evening shifts, structured onboarding, and access to advanced diagnostics and a supportive team

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of relevant clinical veterinary experience.
• Licensed Veterinary Technician credentials preferred; emergency or specialty experience is a plus.
• Clear, professional communication with clients and colleagues, including during emotional conversations and busy periods.

Responsibilities

• Perform prompt triage assessments and document presenting concerns and treatment approvals.
• Assess patient stability and alert the medical team when urgent intervention is needed.
• Reassess waiting patients and update triage priority per hospital protocols.
• Obtain vital signs, weights, blood pressures, and blood glucose readings; note abnormal ECGs.
• Coordinate with Client Care Specialists and the team to prioritize patient needs and maintain records in the systems.
• Explain the triage process to clients and communicate next steps with empathy.
• Collect samples, perform in-house tests, and obtain radiographs with proper safety practices.
• Place IV catheters and administer prescribed medications; assist with outpatient care and wound care.
• Prepare prescribed medications and provide clear discharge instructions and home-care guidance.
