Job summary

VCA South Shore Animal Hospital in Weymouth, MA is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician Manager to lead our high-volume ER/ICU teams. You will collaborate with ER/ICU doctors and hospital leadership to optimize patient flow, staff performance, and the delivery of exceptional medical and client service.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of veterinary hospital experience
• Leadership or management experience in a veterinary/medical setting
• Ability to manage workflows in high-pressure ER/ICU
• Excellent communication, coaching, collaboration and conflict-resolution skills
• Operational mindset with staffing, budgeting and hospital efficiency understanding

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily operations of the ER/ICU technical teams to promote efficient patient care and workflow
• Directly manage, support, and develop approximately 25–30 veterinary support associates
• Work closely with ER/ICU doctors to support collaborative patient care, identify staff training needs, and strengthen communication between the medical and technical teams
• Partner with the other ER/ICU Technician Manager to ensure consistent leadership and support across the department
• Support staffing strategy, scheduling, attendance, and performance management
• Coach and develop supervisors, team leads, and veterinary support staff
• Promote consistency in hospital processes, medical protocols, and client service standards
• Collaborate with medical and administrative leadership to improve efficiency and patient outcomes
• Support financial and operational goals, including staffing utilization and resource management
• Maintain a strong presence in the hospital to monitor patient flow, team morale, and service quality
• Assist in resolving escalated client concerns and operational challenges
