ER/ECC Veterinary Technician- Per Diem

Welcome to Animal Emergency & Specialty Center (AESC)! We are a 24/7 Emergency Care Veterinary Hospital with 7 different Specialties. The AESC Team is growing, and we are seeking motivated, positive and compassionate individuals to join our team. Our Nursing staff is essential and important to us, just as the care they provide to the pets and clients in our community. We are currently seeking an ER/ECC Veterinary Technician to join our team on a Per Diem basis!

About the Role:

The ER/ECC Technician’s primary responsibility is to triage patients as they present to the Emergency Room according to triage levels. Assess pets and provide immediate lifesaving care under the direction of the ER doctor as required for critical patients. Provides history, vitals, and concerns to doctors to assist in the timely and appropriate management of emergency patients. Works with float technicians and assistants to perform diagnostics, execute treatment plans and/or hospitalize the patient. Communicates medical updates, financial, and treatment plans to owners.

Compensation:
  • $25 - $34, hourly, based on experience
Anticipated Schedule:
  • Schedules are subject to change based on the needs of the Hospital and the Department
  • Training Days/Hours TBD by hospital leaders
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Provides excellent patient care to every patient
  • Triage patients as they come into the ER with appropriate medical decision making and escalation to ER doctor as appropriate.
  • Obtaining history and vital signs of the pet
  • Assist DVM’s with exams, treatments and procedures
  • Immediately respond to STAT calls and follow the appropriate patient care protocols
  • Perform standard technician duties including patient restraint, venipuncture, SQ Fluids, radiographs, medication administration as ordered by a Veterinarian, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications by veterinarian orders
  • Perform sedation and anesthesia according to established hospital protocols (induction, maintenance, monitoring and recovery).
  • Maintain accurate paperless medical records utilizing EzyVet and Smartflow
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of financial and charging practices including creating estimates and discussing with the owners, collecting payment and discharging patients.
  • Collaborate with all departments across the hospital to ensure that all patients are receiving the best possible patient care
  • Demonstrate compassion and care in all interactions
  • Attend department and staff meetings
  • Contribute to the overall needs, cleanliness and organization of the hospital.
  • Other duties as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • At least ONE YEAR of veterinary technician experience is REQUIRED to be considered for this role!
  • Registered Veterinary Technician in Colorado, or the ability to become registered upon hire.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years of Veterinary Technician experience in a Specialty Hospital, preferably in an ER Dept.
  • Ability to multitask and anticipate the department's needs.
  • Excellent communication.
  • Experience using Medical Record and Whiteboard programs in a veterinary setting.
