Job summary

CVETS in Columbia, SC is seeking a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Emergency & Critical Care to lead clinical care for critically ill patients. You will mentor staff, perform advanced procedures, and collaborate with veterinarians to ensure top patient outcomes.

The role demands 2-3+ years in a veterinary emergency/critical care setting, extensive technical skills, and a commitment to client service and teamwork. VTS certification and RECOVER CPR are strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Current credentialing as a Licensed/Registered/Credentialed Veterinary Technician in applicable state.
• VTS in Emergency & Critical Care required and maintained in good standing.
• CPR certification; RECOVER preferred.
• Degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced patient assessment, triage, and monitoring of critically ill patients.
• Interpret changes in patient status and escalate when needed.
• Lead and mentor ICU/ER staff; provide real-time coaching.
• Coordinate with veterinarians to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
• Safely handle diverse and high-acuity patients during emergencies.
