  • Documents Daily Census updates and changes.
  • Printing patient education materials, pertinent ancillary reports for patients/Nursing Staff during patient stay and at discharge.
  • Schedule follow up appointments at discharge for patients.
  • Checking orders input and assisting with order entries per protocols.
  • Assisting with patient transfers.
  • Enters patient service charges, assists with contract agreements, and payment collections.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Performs duties in the capacity of Clerk for the Nursing Department.


Reports To: LVN, RN, TEAM LEAD, CNO, CEO

Responsibilities
  • Perform required tasks without prompting and adjust appropriately to situations.
  • Communicates positively and respectfully to coworkers, patients, physicians, and others.
  • Adhere to the attendance policy.
  • Follow district and department policies.
  • Attend required meetings and in-services.
  • Participate in Hospital District Safety Program and QA Programs.
  • Use time and resources wisely.
  • Maintain HIPAA, keeping patient and hospital confidentiality.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of items needed to perform job; order or report low items to supervisor.
  • Practice proper phone etiquette, identification of self and department.
Essential Functions

Primary Responsibilities for all Units Assigned:

Provides clinical services and care for patients.

  • Answers multi-line telephone, routing calls and providing messages.
  • Documents Daily Census updates and changes.
  • Printing patient education materials, pertinent ancillary reports for patients/Nursing Staff during patient stay and at discharge.
  • Schedule follow up appointments at discharge for patients.
  • Checking orders input and assisting with order entries per protocols.
  • Assisting with patient transfers.
  • Initiates, assembles, and maintains charts for all patients on the unit. Makes new charts as needed.
  • Checks all charts when physician has completed them to obtain STAT and discharge order.
  • Notifies Housekeeping of room numbers after discharge in a timely manner.
  • Informs nursing staff of pertinent information regarding patient care and procedures from ancillary departments.
  • Reports patient diet type, food allergies, and preferences to the Dietary Department.
  • Communicate patient status, pending orders and information during transfers, at exchange of shift, and as needed.
  • Notifies Central Supply of needed supplies for the unit.
  • Assisting the Nuse Aide when needed.
  • Enters patient service charges, assists with contract agreements, and payment collections.
  • Other duties as assigned.
