An established industry player is seeking an Emergency Room Attendant to support patient care under the supervision of licensed nurses. This role involves performing vital tasks such as obtaining EKGs, assisting with venipuncture, and measuring vital signs. Under the direct supervision of licensed nurses, the Emergency Room Attendant performs various duties to assist in the care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. These duties include, but are not limited to, obtaining EKG's, venipuncture, ambulation assistance, toilet assistance, feeding, measuring vital signs and blood glucose, and transporting.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
1. Perform basic patient care with minimal supervision and within established policies on all age groups
2. Accurately check and record vital signs, reports any abnormalities to licensed staff
3. Performs venipuncture and collects other specimens per policy
4. Promptly answer call lights and provide necessary assistance in a timely manner
5. Report patient changes, problems, complaints or requests to appropriate personnel
6. Assist in the maintenance of equipment and stocking of supplies
7. Aware of departmental throughput goals and actively participates in meeting these goals
8. Accurately follows direction of licensed staff with minimal guidance needed
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience RequiredEducation/Licensure: Must have high school diploma or GED. Experience: No previous experience required, but preferred. Additional Skills/Abilities: BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period. Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
