Job summary

Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) is seeking a Registered Nurse to apply the nursing process across departments, collaborating with physicians and the multidisciplinary team to support patients and families.

You will complete assessments, formulate and monitor care plans, administer medications per orders, mentor staff, participate in discharge planning, and ensure safety and quality in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree from an accredited nursing program (required).
• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• 1 year acute care nursing experience preferred; relevant to department.
• Experience with Electronic Health Record preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to pass Medication Exam.
• Basic computer skills required.
• BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS, NIH Stroke certifications required.
• Orientation to unit policies, infection control, and performance improvement.
• RN licensure in state required.
• De-Escalation training within 6 months of hire required.
• Rural Trauma Team Development Course preferred.
• Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course preferred.

Responsibilities

• Completes patient assessments, formulates plan of care, oversees implementation and evaluation.
• Administers medications and IV therapies as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Mentors and orients new staff and students.
• Documents findings timely in the medical record.
• Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members.
• Participates in discharge planning and transition of care.
• Ensures a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Performs duties in accordance with standards of practice and policies.
