Job summary

Dodge & Cox is seeking a Trading Strategy Associate for its Equity Trading team in San Francisco. You will help implement tactical and investment decisions across global markets, collaborating with investment committees, research analysts, and strategy teams to source liquidity and improve execution performance.

The role emphasizes team collaboration, advanced analytics, and the use of AI, ML, and modern tools to develop trading signals and evaluation frameworks.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in financial engineering, data science, or other quantitative field.
• 2 years’ relevant work experience at a financial institution preferred, or post-undergraduate internship with strong potential.
• Knowledge of trading algorithm design and analysis.
• Knowledge of trade executions and execution performance analysis.
• Basic knowledge of global market microstructure.
• Strong statistical and programming foundation with Python, R, MATLAB, C++ or similar.
• Familiarity with AI/ML methods including deep learning and RL and their application to trading.
• Familiarity with AI tools and frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, LLM tools).
• Basic knowledge of SQL and data management.
• Willingness to cover different markets and trading hours.
• CFA or interest in CFA designation.

Responsibilities

• Research properties of trading algorithms and analyze global market micro-structure.
• Analyze market data and create frameworks to evaluate trading strategies.
• Advise execution traders on strategy and tactics.
• Develop pre-, intra-, and post-trade execution analysis for Equity and FX markets.
• Develop and automate execution performance measurement and reporting.
• Develop and implement trading signals/models to improve execution performance.
• Leverage AI/ML techniques to enhance research and analytics.
• Support development of trading workflows and evaluate third-party tools.
• Perform ad-hoc analyses and participate in internal projects.
