Morningstar’s Equity Strategies team in Manager Research seeks an Associate Analyst in Chicago to deliver objective, independent research on funds and investment vehicles. You’ll research, rate, and write analyses while developing broader investment expertise.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree is required; a graduate degree and/or CFA designation (or progress toward one) is preferred.
• Passion for investing and helping investors make better decisions.
• Excellent time management, analytical, writing and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
• Familiarity with programming languages (Python, R, MATLAB) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis using databases and monitor regulatory info.
• Interview portfolio managers and perform on-site due diligence visits of asset-management firms.
• Develop clear opinions to support forward-looking ratings on funds and investments.
• Author analytical research reports, articles and industry studies.
• Discuss ratings and reports with external clients and internal teams.
• Monitor developments in the fund industry and global markets.
• Develop expertise in asset classes, asset management firms, and the industry.

Education

Bachelor's degree

Graduate degree preferred

Chartered Financial Analyst designation preferred
