Job summary

CIBC’s Summer Internship Program invites you to join our Equity Research team in Chicago for a 10-week summer experience. You will work alongside experienced investment professionals, develop analytical and financial modeling skills, and research publicly traded companies to learn how investors evaluate businesses and opportunities.

You will gain hands-on exposure to fundamental research, earnings calls, and industry dynamics while building a solid investment thesis and communicating conclusions

Qualifications

• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2.
• Interest in equity research, investing, or financial markets.
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree with expected graduation Dec 2027 or Jun 2028.
• Foundational understanding of financial statements, accounting or valuation.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Work 40 hours per week in our Chicago office with equity research professionals.
• Learn the fundamentals of equity research, valuation, and portfolio management.
• Perform fundamental research on publicly traded companies using SEC filings and other sources.
• Build and maintain financial models to analyze performance and drivers.
• Develop a detailed investment thesis and present findings to the investment team.
• Learn industries and company dynamics covered by the host analyst.
• Listen to earnings calls and investor presentations, summarizing key takeaways.
• Learn to use research resources like FactSet to support analysis.
• Participate in weekly learning sessions on investment research and markets.
