Job summary

Wellington Management seeks a self-directed Equity Research Associate to join the Global Industry Research Industrials Team in Boston. You will work with a senior analyst to support coverage of diversified Industrials, leveraging strong modeling, analytics, and communication skills.

The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative investment environment, contribute to research efforts across the industrials sector, and build models and risk analyses for both long-only and long/short

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of investment experience, ideally in long/short frameworks or related financial services.
  • Experience covering the industrials sector in sell-side equity research, investment banking, private equity, or buy-side roles.
  • Strong financial modeling ability and data/technology skills for screening and managing large stock universes.
  • Undergraduate degree required; progress with CFA/CAIA levels additive.

About The Role

THE ROLE

We are seeking an Equity Research Associate (RA) to join our Global Industry Research Industrials Team in Boston. In this role, you’ll work closely with a senior Global Industry Analyst to support coverage of diversified Industrials. The ideal candidate is a self‑directed, hard‑working team player with a strong interest in cyclical and industrial sectors and the investment management industry.

Responsibilities For This Position Will Include The Following
  • Maintaining the integrity of industry and comparative valuation models;
  • Performing continuous due diligence on industrials companies spanning the breadth of the sector;
  • Building and maintaining company financial models on prospective investments;
  • Completing complex analytical projects under tight time constraints;
  • Staying abreast of relevant company and industry materials and communications;
  • Working to identify emerging research trends and novel and investable developments;
  • Maintain risk models for long-only and long/short portfolios.

  • Analytical acumen and passion for markets –The ideal candidate will have a superior financial modeling skills, strong analytical capabilities, and an eagerness to apply their expertise and passion in support of Wellington's industrials investing.
  • Superior collaboration skills – The Research Associate will be a self‑directed, hard‑working team player, who contributes to the research efforts of the industrials Global Industry Analyst. The successful candidate will enjoy contributing to a highly collaborative investment environment and will build strong, trusting relationships internally with colleagues across the industrials team. The ability to communicate (both verbally and in writing) and contribute to an open investment dialogue is required.
  • Growth mindset – The flexibility and openness to continue learning, evolving, and growing as a Research Associate is important. The RA will have a global perspective and creative approach for analyzing investment opportunities in industrials equities.
Qualifications

Additional qualifications and characteristics include:

  • A minimum of 5 years of previous investment experience, ideally within a Long/Short (L/S) framework. Equally strong applicants with related experience in the broader financial services space will also be considered.
  • An understanding of risk and risk-based tools beneficial;
  • Experience covering the industrials sector in sell-side equity research, investment banking, private equity, or buy‑side roles.
  • Financial modeling ability;
  • Aptitude for building investment science skill set through interest in the intersection of science and investing;
  • Strong data and technology skills, including experience using platforms and tools to screen, rank, and manage large stock universes.
  • Sound judgment, strong work ethic and highest personal and professional integrity;
  • Demonstrated analytical ability;
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in the face of uncertainty;
  • Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize time well;
  • Strict attention to detail;
  • Effective communications skills, both written and verbal; and
  • Superior academic credentials and track record, an undergraduate degree is required; progress with CFA/CAIA levels is additive.

The base salary range for this position is:

USD 90,000 - 180,000

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.

Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
