Job summary

D.A. Davidson Companies seeks a Research Associate to support analysts in generating actionable equity research for institutional clients in New York. You’ll assist with data gathering, financial modeling, and presenting insights. This role develops analytical expertise and communication skills in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.

Experience in equity research or related finance work is valued; base salary is determined by experience with bonuses up to 25% of base salary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 3.5 GPA; CFA a plus
• Recent grad or up to 1 year of experience in equity research, investment analysis, or other relevant accounting or finance related work
• Bright, mature, and highly motivated with the desire to excel and ability to adapt in an intellectually challenging environment
• Passionate about capital markets and a desire to become highly skilled in equity research
• Securities Industry Essentials Exam, Series 86, 87 and 63 licenses strongly preferred but not required. New hires without these licenses will require successful completion upon hiring
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and work well on a self-directed basis
• Effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation abilities
• Working knowledge of MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

• Support Research Analyst(s) in:
• Making bold calls and producing actionable research for Davidson’s institutional clients
• Researching market and industry trends and company specifics to become an expert in your sector
• Creating, maintaining, and updating data in financial models, and creating tables and graphs that clearly illustrate the information
• Gain experience necessary to:
• Formulate and issue opinions and recommendations on securities and companies in one or more industry groups
• Prepare reports and statistical data for dissemination to firm clients and the investing public
• Answer inquiries from customers, personnel of the firm, and the general public regarding individual securities or industry groups
• Discuss research findings with Sales & Trading associates and institutional clients
• (e.g., analysts and portfolio managers at top mutual funds and hedge funds)
• Experience determines base salary. Bonuses are up to 25% of base salary.
