Job Description:

Alger seeks a bright, enthusiastic Analyst to support the technology and industrial sectors within our U.S. Small and Mid Cap team. Ideal candidates are passionate about investing, eager for responsibility, and thrive in dynamic environments. Your industry knowledge will enhance team performance and influence portfolio decisions through research and analysis.

This role involves working closely with portfolio managers to generate investment ideas and collaborate with industry contacts, analysts, and company management to develop investment theses.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Analyze financial statements, conduct management interviews, build financial models, and write research reports.
  2. Create and utilize internal quantitative reports to identify promising small and midcap stocks.
  3. Track and report on technology sector themes, identifying new trends.
  4. Produce strategic reports to highlight market outperformance opportunities.
  5. Engage with sell-side analysts, industry contacts, and company management to develop investment theses.
  6. Maintain research databases and track industry data and news.
  7. Assist in monitoring sector research activities and ensure timely completion of work.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 8+ years buy-side experience or equivalent industry training.
  • At least 5+ years of experience in the technology and/or industrial sectors.
  • Strong understanding of disruptive and growth companies within their industries.
  • Proven skills in financial modeling, industry analysis, and report writing.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude and problem-solving mindset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, science, mathematics, engineering, liberal arts, or related field.
  • Strong academic record with solid finance and accounting skills.
  • MBA and CFA are preferred.
  • Base salary range: $150,000 - $250,000 plus discretionary bonus and benefits.
