Job summary

Mizuho is seeking an Equity Research Vice President focused on U.S. Oil & Gas for the SMID cap space. You will cover ~10 stocks and contribute to the firm’s energy research team with opportunities to grow within the desk.

You will write reports, build integrated financial models, and engage with industry contacts while collaborating with marketing and senior colleagues in a hybrid New York environment.

Qualifications

  • 5-6 years of equity research experience; otherwise, prior experience in banking in the U.S. E&P sector.
  • Licensing or credentials: Series 7/63/86/87 or CFA Level I preferred.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; prior experience building models and DCF-based valuation methodology.

Responsibilities

  • Write research reports, including initiations, industry thought pieces, and earnings recaps.
  • Build dynamic models consisting of integrated Income Statement/Balance Sheet/Cash Flow Statements.
  • Source alternative data sets and summarize relevant industry and company information for reports.
  • Conduct proprietary research evaluating the competitive landscape, and analyze industry/company news.
  • Create and maintain relationships with industry contacts.
  • Help senior team members prepare for marketing events and conferences.

Job description

Equity Research Vice President – U.S. Oil & Gas Research

A leading and growing global investment and corporate bank is seeking an Equity Research Vice President who will work with an established and experienced energy research team, focusing on SMID Cap U.S. Oil and Gas Exploration and Production. Role envisions direct coverage of ~10 stocks, with potential for growth over time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Writing research reports, including company initiations, industry thought pieces, and earnings recaps
  • Building dynamic industry models consisting of integrated Income Statement/Balance Sheet/Cash Flow Statements
  • Sourcing alternative data sets and simplifying and summarizing relevant industry and company information for inclusion in research reports
  • Conducting proprietary research evaluating the competitive landscape, and analyzing industry/company news
  • Creating and maintaining relationships with industry contacts
  • Helping senior team members prepare for marketing events and conferences
Key Qualifications
  • Highly motivated and hard-working individual who is a team player, and has a thirst for knowledge, an ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and is detail-oriented
  • Ideal candidate will have a minimum 5-6 years of prior equity research experience; otherwise, prior experience in banking in the U.S. E&P sector.
  • Series 7, 63, 86 and 87 licenses, and/or CFA level 1 preferred
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; prior experience building models and DCF-based valuation methodology
  • Effective oral communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely, and ability to function independently while maintaining a collegial and collaborative approach to working with other team members
  • Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience and capabilities

The expected base salary ranges from $180,000 - $200,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
